The critical edition of the Neo-Babylonian chronicle tablets held by the British Museum, published by the Trustees of the British Museum in 1956. It re-issues B.M. 21901 — previously published in 1923 as The Fall of Nineveh — with revisions taking account of subsequent criticism.
This record exists because an artefact and a reading of an artefact are two different things. The tablet is the object; the edition is what allows a claim about what it says. Both are cited, and both are checked.
